Sorry, "first post!" is a bit of a slashdot joke.    I’m an original geek.

Living la Vida Libre is about living with liberty. From where I sit, liberty is less political and much more practical - freedom from  unnecessary or undesirable constraint or commitments - laws, debt, end user license agreements, and such ilk. I plan to write about an eclectic menagerie of topics in which I find at least the experience of liberty - free-as-in-speech software such as Gnu+Linux and Firefox, clean and elegant canvasses of expression such as the Python programming language, and day-to-day practical freedom such as in my local Christian community.

This blog is a companion to my rather long-running website, Dr. George’s Science Web.  I could have loaded WordPress onto that site directly, but I wanted to be free (ahem) from maintaining the blog engine. "Quick and easy" is more than just a good recipe for supper!
